10 October 2016<\/em>\u00a0– In conjunction with Children\u2019s Day, the Automobile Association of Singapore (AA Singapore), together with Traffic Police and Singapore Road Safety Council launched the \u201cAlways Belt-Up Children – Safe Kids on Roads\u201d children\u2019s activity book on 8 October 2016, Saturday at the \u201cParty with my friends in Chua Chu Kang\u201d event in Chua Chu Kang Community Club.<\/p>\n

Jointly organised by the Chua Chu Kang PAP Community Foundation and the People\u2019s Association, the event saw a crowd of 1,000 attendees, comprising families and friends of Chua Chu Kang GRC.<\/p>\n

The \u201cAlways Belt-Up Children campaign was launched by Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Health, Grassroots Advisor to Chua Chu Kang GROs and MP for Chua Chu Kang GRC. Following the launch, the books would be distributed to all K1 and K2 students in PCF centres islandwide.<\/p>\n

Through the use of child-friendly activities within the book, children would be educated on adopting the correct road behaviour and help to serve as reminders to their parents on the right practices.<\/p>\n

Children are our future and it is important for adults to take the lead and practice safe road habits. Children observe adults\u2019 behaviour and the safety habits they learned from adults will remain with them for life. It is important for everyone to always remember to belt up in the car and secure children in the appropriate child seat before the start of every journey.<\/p>\n

Besides the launch of \u201cSafe Kids on Roads\u201d children\u2019s book, AA Singapore also launched an online pledge, \u201cI Pledge to be a 5-Star Safe Road User!\u201d For every online pledge received, AA Singapore will be donating $5 to the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund where funds raised will go towards school pocket money disbursements and support of the social and educational development of the children and youth in low-income families.
